Paint Pad is a significantly improved version of the Forum Nokia’s  Mobile Paint sample application for S60 5th edition devices. The interface has been given a complete overhaul and it is pure pleasure to use it now. It brings some new features to the table, such as ability to use photos as backgrounds and input text with different size and colours to name a few.

 


 

Having spent an entire feature slamming Touch in general and perhaps the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic in particular, I think it’s only fair to give Nokia some credit and balance the equation with a breakdown of Ten Things that Nokia Did Right in the 5800, things which they didn’t have to do but which impressed me nevertheless. Are these ten plus points below enough to make the 5800 XpressMusic a must-buy? Maybe, maybe not, but their very existence speaks well of Nokia, of the 5800 and of sister devices to follow. Yes, I doubted. The Samsung Omnia HD made me doubt. It made me question whether I’d be sticking with Nokia when the time comes for me to switch handsets in the following months as well as wonder about my priorities in a new device. Samsung has gotten so many things right with the Omnia HD, it’s scary. I really want a huge OLED touchscreen and I want HD video recording, but the Omnia HD isn’t the right device *for me*, the N97 is. Here’s why.

 


 

It looks like there’s going to be a Nokia Event on March 11th that we can all watch on the web. Not a a lot details are shared, other than a header saying, “Your Music Player is Ringing.” Could it be a new phone? A new service? What do you think?
