When, in may 2012, we launched Premium Widgets for iOS and Android we were both excited and curious to see how our first weather app would perform. We put nearly 6 months of work into it, and the results were amazing. Over 500K downloads and very good feeback lead us to port the app to Windows Phone and Mac OSX and to introduce new amazing features.
Now, after 8 months of work, we are announcing its successor. ZeroWeather will not be an update, but a completely new app, redesigned from scratch and with new, amazing features.
As always, we put a lot of efforts for a cutting-edge design. We wanted something both amazing to see and usable. The result is a clean, modern interface that uses a 3D weather background that works with gyroscope and accelerometer sensors for a realistic effect. With ZeroWeather, you can see clouds, lens flare and rain drops with a 3D effect as you move or tilt your device.
Talking about weather data and reliability, we wanted no compromise. This is why we are packing 3 weather providers into our new app: WorldWeatherOnline, OpenWeather, and Forecast.io, which is the best performing weather provider so far. Premium users will be able to choose and switch between these 3 providers to use the most that is most accurate in their area.
Of course there will be hourly forecast, 7-day forecast (3-day for free), homescreen Widgets and radar map with real time cloud cover all over the world.
In the era of social networks we wanted to give users the widest possibility to share weather information with their friends. This is why we have 2 different way of sharing weather: 1-tap share of weather conditions on Facebook and Twitter, plus the awesome “InstaShare” feature that allows you to take a picture with your phone, add weather data on it, and share it using email, Facebook, Twitter and, of course, Instagram.
Given the success of Premium Widgets we wanted to make ZeroWeather even more international. This is why the app and the weather data will localized in many languages, including french, spanish, italian, german, dutch, russian and more.
ZeroWeather will be available for free for iOS and Android on
August September 1, 2014. ZeroWeather Prime will be available as in-app purchase and will add support for unlimited cities, 7-day forecast, 3 weather providers, localized weather data, additional widget skins, and will remove in-app advertising.
